Time has a way of lulling us to sleep, doesn't it. We're all so glad to see the end of winter...
we forget about the dangers of Spring in the Heartland.
We're all buying our flowers and gardens, looking forward to all the beauty around us.
We got so much rain this year {at least around here we did}
the trees are so green they almost look black...
grass is pushing up, trying to drown out the weeds.
Wishes have been made on the wind of the dandelion thistle.
God's in His Heaven and all is right in the world.
We take pleasure in our families, we have planned for Memorial Day and it's Solemn festivites...
The beginning of summer sneaks in around the edges of our minds...
We're thinking about swimming & old fashioned home-made ice cream...
and burgers thrown on the grill. The kids are spending the last days at school.
Mother's are glad to have their kids at home more, figuring out ways to entetain them.
We buy all the trapping of gardening...brand new lengths of hose,
a new sprinkler replaces the one that quit at the end of last summer. Checking out air-conditoners to combat the heat and humidity.
{ I just can't do the humidity part} NoSir....I can't.
So I have a favorite chair to settle in when the day grows too hot for outdoors...
I'm a cool weather gardener...purty good in May and June
I wilt after that and start longing for fall...yeppers, I really do...
The thing is...life happens while we're making other plans...and sometimes it's tragic...oh so tragic...
We've made our plans and planted roses and geraniums and petunias..some of the veggie gardens are starting to bloom...
Then we hear a beep beep on the TV..they've been warning us for days this is probably coming...we still don't want to believe them...but we look at the screen to be sure...and we see...
THIS coming in our direction. that pink you see...that's golfball and baseball sized hail. Scary stuff.
The weatherman's saying "Get underground...you won't make it above ground."
Thank God for his mercy, a lot of people did.
A lot of folks were in their cellars when the house fell on it, they could'nt get out.
The destruction is so overwhelming...
and it makes you cry when they talk about the children trapped in their schools.
We'll make it by the Grace of our God,
Okie's take care of each other and we're very strong and resilient.
Pray for those family's that lost everything in an instant..especially the folks that lost children.
I love you guys.
