Daughter & I went out yesterday to one of our favorite places to shop and the first thing I saw was this set of crock bowls..serendipity, ya think??? What a homey, old timey farmhouse look they had...My grubby little paws couldn't grab em' fast enough! They were heavy in my hands when I took them from the shelf, and I was smitten instantly...well, I was smitten the minute I saw them..I seem to do that a lot, De used to tell me when we had the time to go into antique shops:
"Ya know what, babe, I might get a better deal on some of these things...
"If you didn't fall to the floor and start saying..."I gotta have this, honey, I really want this."
Well, I never...
Back to the bowls
I was hopin' someone could tell me if they are old or not.

And that's the way it goes..

Do something fun!!

Excellent find! Gorgeous! Kit
ReplyDeleteYou know- I don't know what it is about bowls but I love them! I have several and have to tie my hand to my side to avoid buying more. Love your sweet little ladies, too. xo Diana
ReplyDeleteI am absolutely in love with the photos on your header today. xox
ReplyDeleteSometimes you just know you have to have a certain something. I think of it as holding on to history. We wouldn't want all these lovely items to end up in a land fill one day now would we.
ReplyDeleteThanks for coming by my blog today. Like your previous commenter I love your photos in your header. What fun.
Hi Glenda,
ReplyDeleteThe bowls are great & I love the 'lil lovelies', too, they remind me of one my aunt or grandma had when I was a kid.
The mission statement isn't mine... I heard it on a talk by Patrick Madrid from EWTN. You can use it, for sure, & I'm so glad you visited.
Thank you =)
I love the cross under your followers widget that says, "Thank God for Jesus" I never thought of it that way, but I love it!
ReplyDeleteDo you mind if I use that for my scroll at the top of my page?
ps i'm terribly sorry about your husband... God bless him, you & your entire family... so sorry for your loss.
ReplyDeleteLove, love, love your bowls!!!
ReplyDeleteMy husband laughs every time I come home with more bowls . . . what is it about them that makes us so thrilled to find them. I like to think about all the delightful recipes that have been made in them, all the smells in all the kitchens and all the happy family dinners. I feel one with all the ladies before me that have used them.
I guess I'm a little wacky, but that's me :)
Have a lovely week.
Your blogging sister, Connie :)
If you like them, it does not matter how old they are - However, the really old ones, such as "yelloware" were made with lead and are not to be used for food, but just for decor. Perhaps someone who deals in antiques could evaluate them for you, for safety if nothing else.
