"The Excitement of the every day life"

The other day after the ice and snow went off of the road, I ventured to our little dollar store in our little town. Trying to keep most of my busyinss local more and more as stuff gets higher and higher.
Ok, so I found a calendar I liked very well for 1$
It's Americana and it's cute.
Since I'm on a budget, I take a calculator with me to give me a ballpark figure of what I am spending.
I am determined to find a way to eat on the cheap, so to speak. another 2$

And of course, we always need lightbulbs in January.
don't we?? don't you?

This set of silverware I found at Target...isn't it the cutest?
Hubby never liked this kind, so I gave my old set to one of my daughters and installed the new set in my odds and ends dodaddy. I found this unusual sugar and creamer at a local junk store.

I think they're perfect!
Oh, and one more thing.

This is my sweet friend...her name was Linda.
She had two sons and I think it was 3 grandsons.
She had a million dollar smile, and she was from Kentucky, you could it by her soft southern drawl.
She was single, but she had a good job. She got along right well by herself.
And all she could do was worry!

She didn't know how she was gonna make it on Social Security alone.
Soon her health began to fail, She took Fen Fen for a year or so...and she suffered the consequences.
She was in so much pain that when her appendix ruptured she was too late going to the ER.
Five surgeries later she lost her battle with peritonitis.
She was 54 years old when she died. Social Security was'nt even in sight.

That is the value in living in the now!

I wish I could do that, too.
Don't forget to seize the day, friends.
That's all we got!

And thats the way it is
at my house tonite.

  1. Most of my married life I worried about money despite the fact I had a husband who was a hard worker and even in hard times found a way to take care of a family of 9. We may have had less a few times, but never lacked for the necessities. He passed 11 yrs. ago and altho I live on social security I have never once worried about the money. I've never figured out why, when I have more cause to worry now than I ever did before, but I don't question it, I just "live in the now". Happy New Year to you Glenda

  2. Well, I like all your "finds", Glenda. That sugar and creamer are darling and I like the silverware, too.
That is so sad about your friend. I guess God needed an angel early and took her home. It is hard to live in the present and treasure it sometimes but I do try to do that. I started my social security and it would be impossible to live on it without working, too. It is what it is! xo Diana

  3. I like the flatware you found at Target. Seems many of us are being more budget-aware than ever, I am retired and also living on a fixed income. I am trying to be more careful and do a lot less "buying" this year. Happy New Year to you!
