"Snowy day & Forties Music"

Last week I was a wishin' I could find some smallish barstools to put at my little bar.
I get smaller furniture when I can because my house is small.

A few days later I had to go into town to do some errands and I wound up in the *Goodwill Store...how did that happen????
hmmmm!!

I left there to go and visit some family...took the side streets lookin' out for garage sales, just meandering along, enjoying the day, just getting out of the house for a while.
~*~
I turned down a street I use often going downtown, that's when I saw them!
Just sittin' out there on the curb waitin' for me.
It was instant love for me.
I could'nt get them in the car fast enough...lol
I guess I was afraid someone would come out of the house...yelling!
Wait....I've changed my mind...yikes!
Well, I curbcrawl a lot, but it still makes me nervy to do it.

When I got home, I found some fabric I already had in my stash and covered the seats.
Then I felt like tying one on..
I ripped the strips for the bows to make them a lil' more shabby looking.

I needed some different valances.
The ones I had up were too dark and heavy lookin' for spring & summer.
I had this rose drapery fabric I had picked up somewhere in someones garage.

BuddyBoy watched me with a wary eye,
probably wondering what the heck is she doing now...I love that little bird, I love to hear him softly singing to himself as he admires himself in his little mirror...I call him my watchbird,
'cause he has a fit when someone or something is in the yard...
I think he's in love with one of the lady cardinals ...
He struts his stuff &
shows out when they're at the birdfeeder out there in the front yard.

I like the way the new valances turned out..
I always pick up pretty fabric, bedspreads, tablecloths & curtains at garage sales.
I'm forever piddling with something...
and sooner or later I use it.

I guess I'll go see what else I can get into today.

It's a snowy day here and I have 40's dance music playing.
Rod Stewart made a series of CD's of the old dance songs in honor of his parents.
He said they always danced and that's the music he grew up hearing.

Enjoy your day...

  1. I love your curb find stools! You are so lucky to find them! I also love the fabric you covered them with & the bows look so cute. Enjoy the snowy day. We've got at least 3 inches here in Tulsa.

  2. I am so glad to hear you so happy. You have been through a lot, but seem to find pleasure in even the smallest things. That's what life is all about, isn't it.

  4. Make sure you check them to be certain they are nice and secure. I have some similar to these that I ordered from Penney's and they have a special tool for tightening them up. Do you think I can find it? No. And I know I didn't' throw it out. The seat covers look great on them and the bow really sets them off. And yes, it's great to see you coming through the storm to the other side.
